While I was creating the "Out of Darkness" lap quilt, I decided to make a couple of bird blocks that were a smaller version of the same concept of the lap quilt-

This vision of darkness surrounding kept playing around in my head for months, but it wasn't just the darkness. It was the two birds that had their wings flying upward and out of the darkness, in this lap size quilt.

Becoming a "Masterpiece"
"Masterpiece" took many weeks for its completion. I decided to make the background pieced with all shades of white/gray. Then I carefully pieced the vase into the background. I love how it turned out.  The next step was to top quilt. I decided to do this by hand instead of machine for a different feel and effect.
